Dates to watch

What is due to change, and when. Many of these dates are targets and can move, as the satellite timeline already has.

1. By December 2026NBN Co expects about 95,000 of the remaining FTTN premises to be eligible for fibre.
2. 31 March 2027FTTN customers no longer need a high-speed plan to get full fibre.
3. Around mid-2027Eligible Sky Muster customers begin moving to NBN's low Earth orbit service.
4. July 2027First notices go out under the Targeted Upgrade program.
5. 1 December 2027The outdoor mobile obligation is due to start, unless the minister defers it.
6. January 2028Earliest copper suspensions where no fibre order has been placed.
7. 2028Formal approval of Wi-Fi 8 is targeted. NBN Co has committed to run Sky Muster until at least this year.
8. December 2030More than 99 per cent of remaining FTTN premises are due to have a fibre upgrade path.
